Welcome to Inspiration Archiving!
To keep art making fresh, authentic and ever-evolving, I believe it’s really important to constantly gather inspiration from many different sources. Some of my favorite places to discover new ideas are:
A trip to the library or bookstore can yield so many new ideas. Remember not to just look at art books. What about a book on the cosmos, plants, architecture, or sacred geometry?
Artists have always carried sketchbooks because the world is bursting with inspiration, and it’s important to notice and record it in our unique way. In this digital age, I believe slowing down to draw is especially important. Drawing from life give LIFE to your drawings!
One of the benefits of having a phone/camera in our pockets is our ability to record the colors, shapes and inspiration we observe on a daily basis. The photographs we take can easily translate into our paintings and drawings.
Have you ever found a special feather, rock or bit of fabric and thought, “This would be a great shape or pattern to incorporate into my art?” This exercise will help you do just that.
