About this Course
When we created this class, we gathered 12 girls, from age 5 to 17 (along with their mothers)…we gave them each an 8×10 canvas, paint and brushes and mod podge, along with scissors and print outs of the PDF. We set out a few trays of lace and trim and this and that…then we turned on some music and let them be.
Here’s what Melody said after that day: “I LOVED the conversations going on…I LOVED the interaction between the mothers and the daughters…I LOOOOVED the way they talked about their art to each other….I LOVED most of all, the way they had such conviction about what they made, and what it meant, once they were done. I love how they believed in WHO THEY ARE, and WHAT THEY ARE CAPABLE OF.
I loved hearing about their hopes and dreams. I want to help them keep this spark before whatever it is that happens, happens…that thing that steals the spark from so many girls once they become women…..and how they have to fight to get it back. I want to help them to never really lose it……..they are such beautiful and powerful little souls.”
We want to make it so that you can do this too….share this kind of stuff with the special girls in your life….make sure they know what they need to know, and in the process, make sure that you get reminded of what you need to know…so that we can all just keep reminding each other…
Life is good…
Life is beautiful…
We are all so full of this goodness and beauty, all of us.
We are all so different…
We are all so important…
We all need each other so much…we need each other’s kindness, we need each other’s support, we need each other’s wisdom and strength and stories.
We hope you enjoy making this I Am project with the girls in your life. Make one for yourself, too. After all, we’re still girls inside.

About the instructor
I love being part of Brave Girls Club and sitting in this big worldwide circle of sisterhood....it has changed my life in all of the best ways. I am profoundly grateful for all of it, and I work hard to never take it for granted.
I'm an artist, teacher and entrepreneur. I have started and owned a few different companies and written many books. I have sold and licensed my art all around the world, which is what I had dreamed of doing since I was a little girl. In 2004, my husband sustained a traumatic brain injury which changed the direction of our lives dramatically and led me to my TRUE life's work.
Taking care of my husband and holding my family together while my business and the rest of my life fell apart all around me left me feeling broken in every way. I used art and journaling to heal the fragmented parts of my soul, and once I felt healed I wanted nothing more than to share what I had learned and how I had healed with my sisters all over the world. That's where Brave Girls Club came from...my curriculum is what I have used to heal myself and make my life joyful again.
I live in Star, Idaho where my husband and I have raised our 5 children. My husband made a miraculous full recovery which we consider a tremendous miracle that has prompted us to spend our life helping others out of the kinds of dark times we were in for so long. Our greatest treasure in life is our family, ...especially the grandchildren who have come to us! We plan to spend the rest of our lives doing more of what we are doing now....enjoying life, helping where we can, creating beauty, and spending as much time as possible with our beloveds...at home and all over the world. We appreciate every new day we are gifted with, and life is beautiful! So happy to be here with all of you!
