About this Course
As the mother and stepmother of teens, we understand how limited the quality time with our children can be. Our typical daily schedule leaves so little room for heart-to-heart conversations – or even spirited play – and their growing independence means we often have only the briefest of moments in the car on the way to school or to their extracurricular activities to connect. We believe that especially because time is at a premium and the needs and interests of our kids are changing, we have to develop new, meaningful ways to share with each other. Our Art Adventure is designed to give you and your child a creative, soulful opportunity to connect in a casual, easy setting.
About the instructor
Currently living in Northern New Jersey, she can also be found wandering the backroads by tandem bicycle, writing poetry for strangers on index cards, and online at www.mayastein.com.
In 2010, sensing a need in her community to make creative expression more accessible, Amy founded BraveGirlsArt (unbeknownst to her, Melody Ross was across the country making dreams come true for adult Brave Girls!). Amy believed girls needed to hear the message that creativity was a form of self-empowerment. Her first Saturday morning class was an invitation to the young participants to tap into their creativity, share ideas, find common ground, and discover new and exciting ways to express themselves. A lot of glitter and spray paint was involved.
Amy’s most recent personal artistic endeavor was to join The 100 Day Project on Instagram. The purpose of the project is to encourage people to create something every day for 100 days and publicly document it. Amy gave birth to a body of work during the 100 days and is currently looking for a home to showcase her “100 Days of Paint Chip Collages.”
“Tingle” was actually Amy’s middle name at birth. Somewhere along the way she decided it suited her best and moved it front and center.
