About this Course
Life is so much about making decisions, day after day, minute after minute. Just about everything in life can be dramatically improved simply by making different decisions...decisions that are right for us individually.
Perhaps one of the most destructive beliefs that we can ever have in life is to believe that we are powerless over our circumstances, over our moods, over our relationships, over our future. While it is true that we have no power to change other people...we absolutely have power to change the things that are within our own realm of influence.
The things we CAN change can almost always be changed with our own decisions. We can choose what we want to do next, we can choose how we want to feel next, we can choose what will will let go of next, we can choose what we will listen to next, we can choose what we say next, we can choose what direction we will head in next. Life is so much about choosing what to do next. We start to feel powerless when we think we have to know exactly how things will turn out. What we really need to know day after day, is what we will do next. Then we have to do it.
We live in a culture that has somehow made us believe that if things are difficult or if we are struggling, we are doing it all wrong. We live in a culture that often gives us the message that we should quit doing things that are difficult and that life is meant to just be really easy, really fun and we can get everything quickly and without a lot of effort. This leads to feeling powerless, because as we all know....just about everything meaningful, important and valuable requires some kind of sacrfice, some kind of bravery and most of those things also take time. Important things take time. While our culture tries to teach us that if we have to work for something, we will suffer....the opposite really is true. When we want something and we know it is right and true for our own individually life...we get joy beyond compare when we act out in bravery to achieve it, take care of it and grow it.
This lesson is about bravely looking the scary stuff in the face....and then going out and doing it anyway.
About the instructor
I love being part of Brave Girls Club and sitting in this big worldwide circle of sisterhood....it has changed my life in all of the best ways. I am profoundly grateful for all of it, and I work hard to never take it for granted.
I'm an artist, teacher and entrepreneur. I have started and owned a few different companies and written many books. I have sold and licensed my art all around the world, which is what I had dreamed of doing since I was a little girl. In 2004, my husband sustained a traumatic brain injury which changed the direction of our lives dramatically and led me to my TRUE life's work.
Taking care of my husband and holding my family together while my business and the rest of my life fell apart all around me left me feeling broken in every way. I used art and journaling to heal the fragmented parts of my soul, and once I felt healed I wanted nothing more than to share what I had learned and how I had healed with my sisters all over the world. That's where Brave Girls Club came from...my curriculum is what I have used to heal myself and make my life joyful again.
I live in Star, Idaho where my husband and I have raised our 5 children. My husband made a miraculous full recovery which we consider a tremendous miracle that has prompted us to spend our life helping others out of the kinds of dark times we were in for so long. Our greatest treasure in life is our family, ...especially the grandchildren who have come to us! We plan to spend the rest of our lives doing more of what we are doing now....enjoying life, helping where we can, creating beauty, and spending as much time as possible with our beloveds...at home and all over the world. We appreciate every new day we are gifted with, and life is beautiful! So happy to be here with all of you!
