About this Course
This course starts with the very basics of how to tool leather. The tips and techniques could be applied to any type of leather tooling, although this tutorial does focus on tooling a leather cuff. Students can start here with absolutely no experience with leather tooling.
The step by step tutorial begins with selecting the leather and sizing the cuff. Next, we discuss all the important things to consider while planning your design. From there we discuss the different types of leather tools, techniques for stamping, correcting mistakes and the order of operations. We go over a wide variety of finishing techniques from basic leather stain to detailed hand painting. Finally, we will discuss embellishments including rivets and studs and what to consider when applying.
