Hello, friends!!! I am an artist and an architect who loves to share what I've learned over the years. I live on a ranch in rural Sonoma County, California, with redwoods and a river and the ocean just down the road. My environment informs my creations and feeds my soul.
I love teaching art, photography, jewelry-making and re-purposing, all with a meaningful dose of getting in touch with your soul. I know the deep healing power of soul work and I love to hold space and teach ways of getting in touch with our souls' purpose.
I believe that each of us has a deep well of creativity. Some of us have tapped into it and some of us have only just skimmed the surface up to now, yet I know it resides in each of us. My hope is that through the classes I create here at BGU, students will see it is not a mysterious process to follow your own creative muse! All of us here, we teach the tools for you to realize your own vision. And the soul soothing and healing and joy that follows as you create is all yours.
I crave meaning and authenticity and deep connection. I am an unrepentant optimist and I try to live each day as the incredible gift that it is. It is a challenge to focus on what is right in this world when we are bombarded by the media, our neighbors and our own self-talk with all that is wrong. But I know it can be done, with practice and within a loving sharing community. I hope that my courses will help everyone who ventures into them to dwell in the light and the bright side of life.
As a happy wife, mother, architect, rancher, artist and deeply committed Brave Girl, I just celebrated the transition into my 60th year and I have no intention of lying down quietly. I believe in love, in fun, in bright vivid color, in God’s grace, in creativity, in deep conversations, in soul connections, in music, in service, in mentoring and in silliness…..LOTS of silliness and laughter!
I have experienced great tragedy and unbelievable blessings and I like to think that I’ve paid attention. I am a work in progress, and I reserve the right to change and grow and learn and re-invent myself for the rest of my days. I also believe in celebrating who I am, who each of us are: sensitivities, quirks, strengths and weaknesses, wrinkles and nerdiness, the whole crazy package. I teach soul restoring practices at venues for at-risk communities. By using my personal journey and challenging experiences, and having come to parenting through special needs adoption and step-parenting, I am able to share some valuable lessons that I have learned.
Born and raised in a small family in beach towns in southern California, I went to college in the SF Bay Area. I spent my early adulthood traveling the country and the world. Now I live in northern California. I am married to my soul mate, Kenny, for the past 17 years. We have 3 kids and we live on the gorgeous Russian River, near the ocean. His family has lived here for over 120 years! We have goats, cows, chickens, sheep, cats and dogs. Kenny and I both love to tinker and make things, side by side. He is re-building one of our barns, a century-old sheep-shearing barn, into an art barn for me. I also want this to be a space for people to meet to create, connect and heal. I can't wait to hold gatherings there!!!
For over 35 years, I have been an architect. It is important to me to create spaces that people fall in love with. I know that our environment affects all aspects of our lives and too often people ignore that fact. I love being outdoors, up in the forest, down at the river, at the ocean, wherever I can hike with my dogs and find peace in nature. Hanging with my friends and making stuff and discussing important things like our faith, our ideas, big ideas, books, our families, etc., and being our authentic selves is the best medicine.
By being a part of BGU, I hope my offerings will inspire others to get in touch with what their soul yearns for. And from that, I hope people will be moved to go out and teach what they know. We can change the world, it’s up to us. We are all connected. xoxoxoxo
