Born along the River of No Return, Margo Vaughn Nelson has had an immensely successful broadcast career that has spanned 5 decades. She started spinning records at the age of 15 in her hometown of Salmon, Idaho. She went on to broadcast news on Public Radio, and hosted a morning radio show in the Boise area for the last 19 years.
Margo’s life experiences include a near fatal car wreck that many didn’t think she would survive. She credits her decades long yoga practice to her fairly quick recovery. She still has a bent arm, but she jokes “It makes me walk like I’m a happy sailor, kind of like Popeye the Sailor Man”.
She’s a breast cancer survivor, now 8 years in remission. Her year of chemo and radiation treatment gave her much more than her health, “It offered me an opportunity to expand my soul search and to meet the most incredible helping people with survival stories of their own”.
Margo facilitates Medicine Wheel recovery circles as a way to live within the seasons and be aware of your life stages. Margo uses her many life experiences to tell her story and pass on the lessons she’s learned. She believes in the healing power of sharing our stories.
Creator of “Crafting for a Cause”, Margo has hosted this event for women to gather in her home and create holiday crafts and share fellowship all while raising funds for Family Advocates.
Margo has most recently become a student of Improv Comedy. "This has been a life changer", she states. "The whole principle of saying 'YES And' has changed my approach to life" Improv teaches how to accept the gifts of life and then create even more with them. Margo uses that approach in her teaching method.
