Hi! I know it's not cool for us to say we struggle with motherhood, wonder if we're doing "enough" or doing it "right". So I'm going to go first. 😉
Before I ever had a child, I taught high school and LOVED teens. So, when I had my son, my mother's instinct took awhile to kick in. Maybe it was post-partum depression, or who knows what, but motherhood did not come naturally to me. I went from the work world to intentionally staying home, so the whole laundry-feeding-laundry-sleep-dinner routine boggled my mind. 😉
In the midst of losing myself, expanding as a mom, learning, and 18,000 hours of therapy, I found my mom soul. Ultimately, I went to work part-time.
Then my son had OCD and Tourette's. So I homeschooled 2nd grade and he went back to school by 3rd. (That's a very short sentence for a very long year. 😉 )
During that homeschooling year I had the concept of The Mom Whisperer, so I saved the .com. Little did I know it would take a few years of 7 moves, 5 vacations, 2 separations, 18,000 hours of therapy, family deaths, and one divorce before I was really ready to understand how powerful the concepts were that I had discovered, was holding on to, and how necessary they were to ground and anchor me (and then hundreds of hours of coaching clients as well)- through the reality of everyday life.
My heart is to never ever tell anyone, "This is the one way to do it" because that never worked for me. My goal for every class is to share concepts, ideas, and ask for moms to consider how this concept might benefit their lives. It takes effort, grace, and a little humor, but there is always the exact transformation that each mom needs at the time.
You may wonder how my son is. 😉 He is currently a teenager, with one year left and ready to go to college. His symptoms are nearly imperceptible. He's one of my favorite (imperfect and whole) people on the planet.
I want you to know this - if you're married, single, struggling, sailing, have no clue, tried "everything" and still have no clue, have toddlers, tweens or teens, or all of the above- we want you to join us! Let me share with you in the courses the SAME concepts I've used myself and then helped many other moms who are willing to look humbly and honestly at life, open to tweak, shift, or change to uncover/ create/ lead a family and life you were absolutely made for.
Oh, you were so made for your family. Pinky promise.
With Joy and Love, Vikki
